Architecture is an art whose masterpieces that everyone can appreciate anywhere in the world live and what language they speak. It is not necessary to have one special education to be left to be conquered by some amazing object when chance put before him. As this house, for example, that some of you may find quite unusual, but can not help but appreciate the architectural value and its unique entry into the environment. Do not you think that if the building has embarked in a magical dance with the hill on which it is located? She seemed happy to be lent in his arms and spun in a complex pirouette along centuries-old trees. With romantic associations and lyrical digressions stop there, but the architectural silhouette of Chenequa residence somehow quite unintentionally pushed us in this unexpected direction.
The house is located near the lake, almost on top of a hill in the heavily wooded area on the western outskirts of the city Milwaukee, Wisconsin state, USA. Designed by Studio Robert Harvey Oshatz Architect in 2009, and its construction is fully completed in 2011. The condition that put owners to architects, the building to be fully implemented from natural materials and has a direct view of and relationship with the surrounding beautiful landscape. The end result proves that realization even exceed their expectations. Chenequa residence is designed on three levels, the main entrance is the second of them. Architectural composition of stone, colored concrete, wood, metal and glass complex oval shapes grabs the eye immediately with its strong impact, but the interesting thing here is mostly that of a single corner of the house can not be extended to fully understand. On each side it just looks totally different.
From the first meeting with the house impression of its true size it is difficult to obtain because the terraced roof and spiral stone columns optically reduce the height of the building and hide her actual volumes. By winding between trees alley leads to the main entrance, where a glass door in person falls into a space which is as if stunned by the festive explosion of light and shapes. Generous glazing facades and twisted line of the house create an internal volume in which the relationship with the exterior is developed in all directions. Interior spaces spread around a central atrium in the center of which stands a stone column as a choreographer orchestrates every detail of the interior solution. Cantilevered staircase wrapped around the column, the inside is actually an elevator shaft, and connects all levels and half-levels in the building if you do not use the elevator.
Entering the house allows for an interesting juxtaposition of elements of the environment – the initial feeling is that the residence is located in a beautiful forest glade, but already in the lake becomes the dominant object. The first level is designed for family functions – in the main atrium are a garage, laundry, technical room, game room, gym, small bar, TV room and guest room. The second level of the house has a direct magnificent view of the lake and include social spaces – living room, dining room and kitchen, which are visually separated by low ceilings that give more intimacy environment. This continues through the kitchen floor on cantilevered balcony with bent steel railings, which stretches between the trees. On the third level is a small apartment for the parents including a spacious bedroom and bathroom, children’s room and roof terrace.
The house itself is designed in line with the requirements for “green architecture” – includes sophisticated central heating and cooling system, the use of solar energy, and the main radiant floor shall be assisted by a geothermal system. Beautiful geometric shapes, transparent glass facades and light structure Chenequa residence are the product of modern architecture and modern construction methods. In an increasingly urbanized world that admires increasingly urbanized approach to architecture, Chenequa residence reminds us that human beings are inherently tied to the natural world and the provision of access and a direct link to it is wealth, to which must to strive in the environment we inhabit.
